French History Discussion Group
The University of Akron kindly provides H-France with the use of its Listserv program for the operation of our discussion list, and has done so since October 1999.
To access messages sent to the list click on this link:

If it is your first visit to the Akron site you will not initially see any messages. Instead, near the top of the page there will be a button labelled "I am not a Spammer" which you will have to click with your mouse in order to access the messages. Apparently this is a security feature devised by the people at Akron.
Once you access the message list you will see that the messages are arranged in chronological order, with newer messages listed first.
Only the first 25 messages will be displayed. Older meesages, so long as they belong to the current month, can be accessed by clicking on the Page Navigation buttons located directly above the message list.
Messages older than the current month can be accessed in one of two ways:

If you know when a particular message was sent you can click on the particular month and year in the grid which is located at the top of the page, directly above the Page Navigation buttons.

You can also locate messages by using the Advanced Search button on the right hand side of the page. First enter the relevant keyword(s) in the box above the Advance Seach button, and the click the button. This will tske you to another screen where you can further refine your search. If you want to search more than the current month you have to highlight it in the Extend Search Field list. To highlight a particular month/year click on it with your mouse; to choose more than one month/year hold down the control button [CTRL] while clicking with your mouse.
Using the Basic Search button will only search for messages for the current montrh.
