Caution: A number of con artists have been using this site to search for targets.  One of the main tactics is to ask for payment to be wired to an account and then deactivating their email address.  This is still a relatively rare occurrence but it has been happening recently enough to warrant this advisory note.

MOST RECENT:

A room with a view in Montparnasse (6th arr.). A bright, quiet and very convenient studio (25sqm) next to Jardin du Luxembourg.  A queen size bed, a table, a large desk with a good chair, a little kitchen and a bathroom. Available from July 1st until mid-September (dates are flexible). Fantastic transportation connections: down the street you find RERB-Port Royal (going straight to Orly or Roissy CDG) and 3 metro stations: lines 4 (Vavin), 12 (Notre-Dame des Champs) and 6 (Edgard Quinet). A Velib' Station (the City Bike system) is facing the front door of the building. Gare Montparnasse is a 15-min walk and Gare de Lyon is direct by Bus 91 as Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est are direct by line 4. The Sorbonne is on the other side of Jardin du Luxembourg and BNF in direct access by line 6: door to door in 25 minutes.

Independent movie theaters such as Les 7 Parnassiens and Le lucernaire are at 5 minutes, and mainstream ones at 10! The resourceful Librairie Tschann is next door; variety of grocery stores (biocoop', regular and discount stores), farmers' market on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays; bakeries, butcher, cafés are few meters away. The studio is in the heart of Montparnassse.

Available from August 22nd to December 31st: Great location, 5 min walk from the Sacré-Cœur (2 min walk to métro Lamarck-Caulaincourt on line 12), safe and trendy area, great village-like atmosphere, close to many cafés, boulangeries, everyday outdoor market, supermarkets (Champion, Franprix, Monoprix…), restaurants, and many other shops with everything you might need. The studio is cozy, very quiet, safe (2 doors with code to enter the building and a reinforced door for the studio) and very clean. It has wooden floor and is furnished with taste (antique furniture and carpets). It is perfect for a research stay or a writing retreat. As composer and visual artist, my companion and I will be in residency during the summer break, and are offering our Parisian apartment for rent from early July to the end of August.

The apartment is classical and spacious with clear walls, a wooden floor, elegant ceiling moldings, large windows on both East and West sides, and a number of indoor plants. It is situated on the fourth floor (no lift), on a quiet street a minute away from the Place Gambetta. Paris rental for academic year 2016-2017

Are you a faculty member or dissertation researcher looking for a Paris apartment for the 2016-2017 American academic year--defined as August 11, 2016 through May 15, 2017?  My apartment in the Oberkampf district of the 11th arrondissement will be available for a single rental between those dates.   A September rather than an August start date is possible, but the May 15 end date is fixed.  8-month minimum rental.  The apartment, 42 sq. meters, completely furnished, 2 rooms, full kitchen, large bath is spacious for one person; it can also accommodate a couple (double bed); it is not suitable for two roommates. On the fifth floor (no elevator), the apartment is light and sunny. The living room looks out on a quiet street and has a western exposure. The bedroom looks onto a spacious courtyard (also quiet) and has an eastern exposure. The apartment has gas heat and comes with linens, dishes, a washing machine, a telephone, a television, and cable internet. Ikea-type furniture.  Well equipped with ample work space as well as bookcases, it is ideal for a visiting scholar. The neighborhood is wonderful: the building is on a small, quiet street off lively rue Oberkampf, which is lined with shops, markets, and cafés.  It is close to metro stations Parmentier, Oberkampf, and St. Ambroise (3 different lines).
